About Christine Small
Christine has fifteen years of experience leading project development, coordination and implementation across diverse private and public organizations. She is a proven and respected leader of creative projects and teams with a proven ability to execute successful complex projects. She has a Masters of Science in Ecology from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the South.
Her experience comes from working in the private sector, state and local government within the state of Florida.
2009-current, as eco-VolunteerUSA Program Director for Volunteer USA Foundation, she recruites and manages volunteers and places them in Florida State Parks to address critical projects.
2004-2008, while serving as the Strategy Coordinator for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission; she managed the creation and use of the state's Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy (Wildlife Action Plan). She is one of the architects of the program Florida's Wildlife Legacy Initiative.
In 2002, she created a public opinions and attitudes Access database towards bears for the state?s Be Bear Aware campaign. This was used to modify and expand the state's public educational campaign.
1999-2002, as Conservation Associate for Defenders of Wildlife; She led the Florida program Habitat for Bears Campaign to raise awareness and mobilize citizen actions to conserve the threatened Florida black bear for this national non-profit conservation organization based in Washington, D.C.
She is also a Master Gardener, and President of Pleasant Hill Farm, Inc., a Missouri property in her family's stewardship for over a Century.
